Develops, implements, evaluates, and revises programs of orientation, in-service training, workshops, and continuing education to meet educational and developmental needs of staff. Takes a lead role in educational initiatives to ensure quality patient care and customer satisfaction. Serves as a leader in the development, training, and monitoring of nursing practice standards. Acts as a resource and liaison to the VUMC community by serving on hospital wide committees or task forces. Represents Vanderbilt within the professional community. Performs a range of nursing, clinical, consultative, educational, and research activities within established area of expertise.

Hours of Position:

Full-time, days

Nursing Education & Professional Development Department-hard working, friendly, collaborative atmosphere with a base location at Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital and expected travel between 3 regional locations on a periodic and scheduled basis. Busy clinical practices in multiple settings including Med-Surg, Critical Care, Emergency Department, and Surgical Services. This position will support the Emergency Department, Critical Care and Stepdown areas as well as transition to practice programs within the regional hospitals.

The ideal candidate will have/be:

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Customer focused;

Ability to collaborate;

Self-directed; Problem solver.

Sound clinical judgment; Hospital or procedural-based clinical experience

Demonstrated leadership experience (formal or informal).

Ideally experience in either ED or ICU (or both) and experience supporting new graduate nurses.

Master’s degree with three years of clinical RN experience. If Master’s degree is not in nursing, must have BSN. Open to an individual in school to complete Master’s program within next year

Nursing Professional Development experience preferred.

Formal leadership experience preferred.

Certification in Nursing Professional Development or area of specialty preferred.

MSN in Nursing Education or higher degree preferred.
