The Vanderbilt Eye Institute attracts some of the most talented doctors and researchers in the country. Our subspecialty ophthalmologists have completed a minimum of one year of fellowship training after residency and are board eligible or board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Vanderbilt Eye Institute's award-winning research staff collaborates with our doctors as well as other Vanderbilt departments to pursue discoveries that enhance the vision of patients everywhere.
Administers orthoptic and/or pleoptic diagnostic tests for patients with ocular motility disorders independently. Assists in treatment to develop or rehabilitate binocularvision. May also perform duties of an ophthalmic technician.
Key Responsibilities :
Assistsin diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of patients with eye muscle disordersand/or amblyopia; administer diagnostic tests such as measuring visual acuity,ocular motility, and binocular function.
Preparesreports and confers with ophthalmologist about patient progress; instructpatients during office therapy and in the utilization of exercises for hometherapy.
Interactswith the patient in a professional manner using AIDET techniques; serves as arole model/leader in patient interactions.
Leadsteam in maintaining a clean working environment, stocked rooms, equipment, andEOC guidelines.

Bachelor’sdegree required from an Accredited Orthoptic Program
Must have obtained his/her Honors Certificate from the AACO.
Experienceworking at an eye care facility with adult and pediatric patients
Highly Desired Requirements:
2+years of relevant experience
Travel with provider to satellite clinics may be required to providesupport and assist with patient care. Our off-site locations are Madison,Franklin, Lebanon, Skyline, Tullahoma, Murfreesboro, Lawrenceburg, and Bellevuealong with the Main Campus location.
Thisposition is Monday – Friday (Days)
