The Department of Health Policy is seeking a qualified candidate to provide a faculty member with research assistance in the areas of grant preparation and management, and coordinate research activities of projects. This position provides support for qualitative and quantitative research projects in health services research, health policy, public health, epidemiology, medicine, or related disciplines under occasional guidance. This staff member will aid in the processes of conducting the research life cycle including, but not limited to, literature reviews, data collection, management, and statistical analyses, and manuscript and grant preparation.

Health Services Research Analyst (3911) - Department of Health Policy

Description

The Department of Health Policy is seeking a qualified candidate to provide a faculty member with research assistance in the areas of grant preparation and management, and coordinate research activities of projects. This position provides support for qualitative and quantitative research projects in health services research, health policy, public health, epidemiology, medicine, or related disciplines under occasional guidance. This staff member will aid in the processes of conducting the research life cycle including, but not limited to, literature reviews, data collection, management, and statistical analyses, and manuscript and grant preparation.

The ideal candidate is knowledgeable of all phases of the project lifecycle including preparatory, regulatory, and analytic tasking. They utilize intermediate level research skills to perform a variety of research- and communication-related activities such as management of project budgets and schedules for proposals and projects; IRB application development and management; the interpretation, analysis, and organization of quantitative and qualitative data metrics (STATA, NViVO); report preparation; and ably communicating to a variety of audiences. This position requires a person who can work well with multiple team members including faculty, staff members, community liaisons, and students and take initiative to gather suitable data to address population health and/or policy questions, and complete assignments in a timely manner.

In this position, the staff member will work directly with community organizations and other key stakeholders as needed to carry out research projects. The ideal candidate should have community engagement experience and be knowledgeable of the associated principles to successfully engage community partners/stakeholders throughout the research cycle. One should be able to cultivate relationships across diverse communities to ensure research successes.

The responsibilities of this position will include project management and participation in qualitative data collection, quantitative data analysis, and communication on issues of current health equity, population health, and health and healthcare disparities with emphasis on community engagement, cancer, and vaccines. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinates research projects

  • Uses quantitative and qualitative research methods skills to participate in the design, coordination, and conduct of research projects.

  • Provides program management for project activities.

  • Fosters collaboration between team members, both internal and external, and community-based organizations and members.

  • May coordinate focus groups or participate in other qualitative data collection.

  • Data management and analysis

  • Responsible for managing large and/or complex datasets.

  • Coordinates development of datasets, data cleaning, data validation, and data reporting.

  • Summarizes and interprets analyses.

  • Maintains detailed documentation of data management and programming codes.

  • Prepares materials and drafts sections of presentations and written documents

  • Prepares materials for presentations.

  • Organizes and formats data for presentations, publications, and internal use.

  • Creates charts, graphs, and tables to summarize analysis results.

  • Drafts section(s) and formats research proposals.

  • Drafts technical report sections.

  • Contributes to and formats peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts.

Minimum Qualifications :

This position requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 24 months of relevant experience. A master’s degree in health services research, public health, epidemiology, medicine, health policy, or a health-related discipline is strongly preferred.
